Elizabeth W. "Betty" Dixon, 63, of Savannah died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 14, 2008.
Born August 28, 1944 to Henry S. Wilson and Nellie M. Wilson, she lived at times in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, and Oklahoma before embracing Savannah as her own in 1999. She was an avid reader, and loved bridge, coastal living and really excellent crab cakes.
Surviving are her husband, Forrest F. Dixon, Jr., of the home; son, Dr. Forrest F. "Scott" Dixon, III and his wife, Dr. Marilee Reynolds Dixon, of Wilson, NC; son Mark S. Dixon, and his wife, Katrina Scheuerman Dixon, of Helen, MT; sister, Emily Zacharias, and her husband, Zack, of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Mike Wilson, and his wife, Jane of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Claire and Ian Dixon of Wilson, NC; Tyler, Jessica, and Chloe Dixon of Helena, MT; mother-in-law, Faye P. Dixon, of Savannah, GA; sister-in-law, Kay Waddell and her husband, Larry, of Martinez, GA; an a host of nieces, nephews, and friends across the country.
A private memorial service will be held at the home for family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
